Apple Compote (or pie filling)

Use this compote for “Apple Pork Chops”, as a filling for crepes or pies, as a topping for ice cream, or for apple cobbler.  Add a few craisins to make a colorful “side dish” for ham.  Yumm!

Ingredients:
  • 3 cups dehydrated apples
  • 3 cups water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 Tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water

Directions:
  1. Combine apples with 3 cups water in saucepan on stove. 
  2. Add the sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon and bring to boil.
  3. In small bowl, stir the cornstarch into ¼ cup water.  Add this mixture into the apple mixture and return to boiling.
  4. Stir in lemon juice (and craisins if desired.)
  5. Enjoy !!
