Apple filling
Ingredients:
- 1/2 #10 can of dehydrated apples
- 1-2 tsp cinnamon (or more depending on preference)
- 1/4 c water
Topping Ingredients:
- 1 C oats (regular or quick)
- 3/4 C brown sugar
- 1/3 C flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4-1 stick butter, melted (or a combo of butter/coconut oil)
- 1/2 C chopped pecans (optional)
Directions:
- Place the dehydrated apples in an 8 or 9 inch square pan and cover with hot water. Let stand for at least 1 hour and drain. The longer you let them rehydrate the better.
- Mix the rehydrated apples with cinnamon and water directly in the baking dish.
- Mix all the dry ingredients, and then mix the melted butter in well. Pour evenly over apples.
- Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes or until apples are tender.
Note:
This
amount of topping is for an 8 inch square pan. I usually double it for my large
pyrex pan (9 X 13) and then use approx. 3/4 of the #10 can of apples. Bake at
350 for 40-45 minutes or until apples are tender.
